Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC Greensboro! We can’t wait to have you join our Spartan Family. Follow our admitted student checklist for a smooth transition to campus. Note: If you’ve been admitted to an Online-Only program and will not be taking courses on campus, some of the items listed below are not required of you. Reference the admitted student communications you receive via email and the Online Next Steps page.

AFTER YOU’RE ADMITTED

Your University ID# will be sent to you via email within 48 hours of admission. Make note of this number for the future. For reference, it’s included at the bottom of all post-admit email communications you’ll receive.

Apply for financial aid by filing your FAFSA, The UNCG Federal School Code is 002976. If you plan to apply for financial aid, do it as early as possible for the best packaging. March 1 is the priority deadline, meaning you’ll get the maximum aid consideration by filing before this date. However, we award financial aid until the start of the semester. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships can provide more information about our process.

BEFORE ORIENTATION

Confirming your intent to enroll at UNCG is the most important way to lock in your seat. Fall admits can confirm their intent to enroll beginning on February 1 through May 1. Spring and summer admits can confirm as soon as they’re accepted.

Setting up your university accounts will give you access to all the systems UNCG students need to conduct their day-to-day business. Within 7 days of being admitted, you will receive an email with instructions about how to claim your UNCG email on iSpartan, which will also give you access to other online tools you’ll use as a student. Check out our New Student Login Cheatsheet for a quick guide on how to access and manage your logins.

  • UNCGenie is the portal you’ll use to register for classes, pay your tuition and fees, and also take care of other university-related business. Use your ID# number to create a PIN. Your University ID# and PIN will give you access to explore UNCGenie.
  • iSpartan is your official UNCG email account. Plan to check this account often, even in the months before classes start; you may receive important messages about financial aid, tuition, and more.

80% of our freshmen live on campus. Make plans to apply for housing early for your best chance at your choice residence hall. Applications open February 1 for Fall, and May 31 is the deadline for guaranteed housing. Applications open October 15 for Spring and March 15 for Summer. Early applicants get priority, so don’t delay!

“Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration” (SOAR) is UNCG’s required new student orientation. SOAR is an interactive program designed to support students and their families as they transition into a new academic environment. SOAR reservations open:

  • Early February for Summer & Fall students.
  • Early November for Spring students.

You can sign up for SOAR here.

If you submitted your FAFSA and selected UNCG as one of your schools, you can view your aid package on UNCGenie or your Admissions Portal after it has been awarded. (Usually around March for early fall applicants.) Use your University ID# and PIN to log in to UNCGenie.

Submit your own photo for your SpartanCard using the SpartanCard Center website.

UNCG respects and welcomes students of all backgrounds and abilities. If you encounter any barriers to full participation on campus due to the impact of a disability/condition impacting a major life activity (including ADHD, Mental Health, Physical, etc.), please contact the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services (OARS). OARS will engage students in an interactive process to determine the need for any reasonable accommodations.

Connect quickly via a brief OARS Welcome Form, using your UNCG credentials to login. OARS will contact you to schedule a convenient, virtual or in-person consultation. You may also request a consultation by calling 336-334-5440, emailing oars@uncg.edu, or walking into the OARS suite, EUC 215.

Students that have not filed their FAFSA are required to complete a W9S Tax Form. If you have submitted your FAFSA to UNCG you have already completed this requirement.

In preparation for studying a language at UNCG, it is important to know which course is your best starting point for that process. If you plan to continue a language that you have already studied, you must take the appropriate online placement diagnostic before registering for classes.

The diagnostic is fully online, will take 15-30 minutes to complete, and is multiple-choice (no listening or speaking involved). Information on the testing process and FAQ can be found on the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures website.

Stay connected with your support system. With the UNCGenie Guest Pass, you can choose who — parents, guardians, or other supporters — can view specific information during your UNCG experience. You control what they see, whether it’s class schedules, billing statements, registration details, or other key student info. Share what you want, with who you choose.

Get spartan set

It’s almost time to begin your first semester at UNCG – you’ve confirmed your intent to enroll, attended SOAR, and now it’s time to make sure you’re Spartan Set! These final 4 checklist items are the last steps you’ll take to ensure you’re set for your first semester. These requirements can only be completed after you’ve completed orientation and registered for your classes. After completing these steps, you’ll be all set to begin your journey as a Spartan! Make sure you get Spartan Set by July 31!

The state of North Carolina mandates that all students who live on campus and/or take more than four credit hours of weekday, on-campus courses are required to submit immunization records to the university.

You can submit records via the Student Health Services patient portal. SHS also offers immunizations on-site. Immunization records are required by law within 30 days of course registration, so it’s essential you do this to remain enrolled.

The UNC System requires students who meet certain criteria to carry health insurance. UNCG offers the Student Blue plan from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Two to three days after you register for classes, you should receive a notification from Student Blue to your UNCG email that you can access the portal (studentbluenc.com/uncg) to either enroll in the plan or, if you have qualifying alternate insurance, waive coverage. Please note, inaction will result in eventual default enrollment in the plan, including responsibility for the cost of the policy. Learn more on the Student Health Services website.

In the excitement of high school graduation and entering college, it’s easy to forget about sending us your final transcripts. Nevertheless, enrolling at UNCG is contingent on us receiving them. You may provide us with your official, final high school transcripts, official AP or IB scores, and any college transcripts directly from the accrediting institution in one of the following ways:

  • Hand-delivered to the UNCG Office of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Sent to us electronically at admissions@uncg.edu.
  • Mailed to UNCG Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P.O. Box 26170, Greensboro, NC 27402-6170

UNCG assesses for tuition and fees each semester. Bills are sent electronically, with most students notified of fall semester bills in early July via their UNCG email. UNCGenie is where you can view and pay your bill and, if needed, designate an authorized user to make payments on your behalf. To make paying for college more manageable, UNCG offers an interest-free payment plan that allows for five, four, or three installments, depending on when you enroll. Learn more about how to pay your bill and payment options on the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships website.
