Transfer Admission Guidelines | UNCG Undergraduate Admissions

To be considered for Transfer admission to UNCG, you must have:

  • An overall and transferable GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Are eligible to return to the last institution you attended.
  • Have 24 or more college credit hours from an accredited institution.

If you have fewer than 24 college credit hours from an institution accredited by one of the agencies below, then you are considered a freshman transfer student. Freshman transfer students must meet requirements under both transfer and freshman admissions programs, including the Minimum High School Course Requirements.

What Is an Accredited Institution?

For your credits to be eligible to transfer, they must come from an insitution accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), or WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

  • Applicants under the age of 21 with fewer than 24 hours of transferable undergraduate credit earned in a post-secondary institution will be evaluated based on first-year (freshman) MAR and MCR.
  • Transfer applicants who are 21 years of age or older and who have less than 24 transferable hours may be evaluated based on their post-secondary performance and/or high school performance.

College Redirection Program

If you have earned an AA or AS degree, another UNC campus will accommodate your request for admission.  More information is available on CFNC’s website.
