Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC Greensboro! Please see below for more information about next steps to enroll at UNCG.
Save your space (do this first!)
When you log in to SpartanLink, you’ll be prompted to accept our offer of admission. This is your first step to lock in your seat at UNCG. For Fall 2021, you can confirm your intent to enroll beginning February 1, 2021. Ideally you’d confirm your intent to enroll by May 1, but you can still confirm after that date. We do not require an enrollment deposit.
Claim your accounts
AFTER YOU’RE ADMITTED… Your University ID# will be sent to you via email within 48 hours. Make note of this number for the future.
IF YOU APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL AID… You can view your aid package on UNCGenie after it has been awarded. (HINT: You’ll get an email from Financial Aid when it’s ready!) You will need your University ID# (see above) and to create a PIN so you can log in.
AFTER YOU’VE CONFIRMED… Check your email for a message from UNCG ITS 1-2 business days after you have confirmed your intent to enroll. This email will contain next steps to claim your UNCG email on iSpartan.
What are UNCGenie and iSpartan used for? Here’s a quick primer:
UNCGenie is the portal you’ll use to register for classes, pay your tuition and fees, and also take care of other university-related business.
iSpartan is your official UNCG email account. Plan to check this account often, even in the months before classes start; you may receive important messages about financial aid, tuition, and more.
Apply for Financial Aid
Apply for financial aid by filing your FAFSA. Our priority aid deadline is January 15th, but we award aid until the beginning of the semester. If you plan to apply for financial aid, do it as early as possible for the best packaging. Our Financial Aid Office can provide more information about our process.
Apply for housing
Make plans to apply for housing early for your best chance at your preferred residence hall. Fall housing applications go live on February 15. Before then, get familiar with our housing options and review the housing application process through Housing and Residence Life.
Submit immunization requirements
Complete your immunization forms and submit medical history forms via the Student Health Services portal. Immunization records are required by law within 30 days of course registration, so it’s essential you do this to remain enrolled. The UNCG Immunizations office is open Monday – Friday 8 am until 5 pm. The office is located on the second floor of the Anna M. Gove Student Health Center. Find Immunization Forms on the Student Health Center website.
Schedule a registration meeting
As a transfer student, you’ll set up your own advising session directly with your assigned advisor. We call this Advising and Registration by Appointment. Plan ahead by reviewing your degree evaluation on Degree Works, checking your degree requirements via the university catalog, and researching available courses on the UNCGenie class schedule. Then look up your advisor on UNCGenie and call to set up an appointment. We recommend completing Advising and Registration by Appointment before attending orientation. More information about how to prepare for and schedule this meeting is available on the Students First website.
Make Your Orientation Reservation
Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is UNCG’s required new student orientation. SOAR is an interactive program designed to support students and their families as they transition into a new academic environment. SOAR reservations begin February 15 for Fall. (SOAR reservations begin November 2 for Spring and February 15 for Summer).
For students entering in Fall 2021, SOAR will be hosted in a virtual format, where you will meet other new students and learn about campus resources to help you feel prepared to make a successful transition to college. Visit the SOAR website for more information.
Submit proof of health insurance
Approximately 2-3 days after registration, go to the StudentBlue insurance portal and complete the enrollment process for the student insurance plan OR complete the waiver process to use your own heath plan and have the student insurance premium removed from your account. If you don’t waive the student insurance, UNCG will assume you want it and you will be charged.
Complete the Foreign Language Placement Exam
In preparation for studying a language at UNCG, it is important to know which course is your best starting point for that process. If you plan to continue a language that you have ALREADY studied, you must take the appropriate online placement diagnostic before registering for classes.
If you have studied French, German, Latin, or Spanish in high school or college, please register for and complete the Additional Language Placement Diagnostic. The diagnostic is fully online, will take 15-30 minutes to complete, and is multiple choice (no listening or speaking involved). Information on the testing process for other languages can be found on this website.
Send final grades
If you are currently taking classes, have your official final transcripts (plus any AP, CLEP, or IB score reports) sent as soon as possible after class ends and no later than July 15 for Fall. (Spring and Summer deadline is two weeks prior to the start of the semester.) If you are finishing your degree prior to transferring, be sure your final transcript reflects your degree earned. Send transcripts to UNCG Undergraduate Admissions, P.O. Box 26170, Greensboro, NC 27402-6170.
Watch for your bill
Students are billed electronically each semester for tuition, fees, room, and board (if applicable). Billing schedules and payment deadlines will be shared at SOAR and online. Please note that bills are sent to you (not your parents) at your UNCG email address, and are issued after you have registered for classes. Be sure to check your iSpartan (UNCG email) account often.
Take your student ID photo
Submit your own photo for your SpartanCard using the SpartanCard Center website.
