Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC Greensboro! Our online degree programs have won numerous awards – you’ve made a great choice. Please see below for more information about next steps to accept your admissions offer and enroll at UNCG.
SAVE YOUR SPACE (DO THIS FIRST!)
When you log in to SpartanLink, you’ll be prompted to accept our offer of admission. This is your first step to lock in your seat at UNCG. Some programs have limited space available, so your response is essential.
Claim your accounts
AFTER YOU’RE ADMITTED… Your University ID# will be sent to you via email within 48 hours. Make note of this number for the future.
IF YOU APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL AID… You can view your aid package on UNCGenie after it has been awarded. (HINT: You’ll get an email from Financial Aid when it’s ready!) You will need your University ID# (see above) and to create a PIN so you can log in.
AFTER YOU’VE CONFIRMED… Check your email for a message from UNCG ITS 1-2 business days after you have confirmed your intent to enroll. This email will contain next steps to claim your UNCG email on iSpartan.
What are UNCGenie and iSpartan used for? Here’s a quick primer:
UNCGenie is the portal you’ll use to register for classes, pay your tuition and fees, and also take care of other university-related business.
iSpartan is your official UNCG email account. Plan to check this account often, even in the months before classes start; you may receive important messages about financial aid, tuition, and more.
APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID
Apply for financial aid by filing your FAFSA. Our priority aid deadline is December 1, but we award aid until the beginning of the semester. If you plan to apply for financial aid, do it as early as possible for the best packaging. Our Financial Aid Office can provide more information about our process.
SCHEDULE A REGISTRATION MEETING
You’ll set up your own advising session directly with your assigned advisor. We call this Advising and Registration by Appointment. Plan ahead by reviewing your degree evaluation on Degree Works, checking your degree requirements via the university catalog, and researching available courses on the UNCGenie class schedule. Then look up your advisor on UNCGenie and call or email to set up an appointment. We recommend completing online orientation (ONL100) prior to contacting your academic advisor. More information about how to prepare for and schedule this meeting is available on the Students First website.
We offer an online module (ONL100) to all online students. You’ll receive an email when you have been officially enrolled in the module and you can access it via Canvas, where you’ll be taking your classes. This module walks you through the basics of UNCG, UNCG Online, and what you need to know to be a successful online student.
SEND FINAL GRADES
If you are currently taking classes, have your official final transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions as soon as your final grades (and degree, if applicable) post to your record. Submit all official documents by July 15 for fall admission (Dec. 21 for spring). Note: Effective March 17, 2020, applicants may submit transcripts electronically to email@example.com.
PAY YOUR TUITION
Students are billed electronically each semester for tuition, fees, room, and board (if applicable). Billing schedules and payment deadlines are available online. Please note that bills are sent to you directly (not any other family members), so be sure to check your iSpartan (UNCG email) account often.
CATCH THE SPARTAN SPIRIT
Congratulations, you’re officially a Spartan! Your college experience should be exciting and challenging, and we want you to have the best possible experience. As an online student you can access our library, Career and Professional Services, Speaking Center, Writing Center, and Digital Action, Consultation, and Training (DACT) studio for free. (These offices can be accessed online and in person.) Although you’re taking classes remotely, we encourage you to visit our campus. While you’re here, you’re free to make use of the services listed above, connect with faculty, visit the bookstore, and explore. We’d love to welcome you in person!
