Congratulations on your acceptance to UNC Greensboro! Please see below for more information about next steps to enroll at UNCG.
first steps after admission
save your space (do this first!)
Accepting our offer of admission is your first step to lock in your seat at UNCG. For Fall 2021, you can confirm your intent to enroll beginning on February 1 through May 1, 2021. You will receive an email on February 1 with details about how to confirm.
Claim your accounts
AFTER YOU’RE ADMITTED… Your University ID# will be sent to you via email within 48 hours of admission. Make note of this number for the future.
IF YOU APPLIED FOR FINANCIAL AID… You can view your aid package on UNCGenie after it has been awarded. (HINT: You’ll get an email from Financial Aid when it’s ready!) You will need your University ID# (see above) and to create a PIN so you can log in.
AFTER YOU’VE CONFIRMED… Check your email for a message from UNCG ITS 1-2 business days after you have confirmed your intent to enroll. This email will contain next steps to claim your UNCG email on iSpartan.
What are UNCGenie and iSpartan used for? Here’s a quick primer:
UNCGenie is the portal you’ll use to register for classes, pay your tuition and fees, and also take care of other university-related business.
iSpartan is your official UNCG email account. Plan to check this account often, even in the months before classes start; you may receive important messages about financial aid, tuition, and more.
Apply for Financial Aid
Apply for financial aid by filing your FAFSA. January 15th is our priority aid deadline, however, we award aid until the beginning of the semester. If you plan to apply for financial aid, do it as early as possible for the best packaging. Our Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships can provide more information about our process.
Apply for housing
80% of our freshmen live on campus. Make plans to apply for housing early for your best chance at your choice residence hall. Applications open Feb. 15 for Fall, with May 31 the deadline for guaranteed housing. (Applications open Oct. 15 for Spring and March 15 for Summer.) Earlier applicants get priority, so don’t delay! Before then, get familiar with our housing options and review the housing application process through Housing and Residence Life.
For a 24/7 residential experience, consider one of our Residential Colleges where students live and learn together in a unique setting. You can apply for a Residential College via SpartanLink if you’re interested.
Make Your Orientation Reservation
“Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration” (SOAR) is UNCG’s required new student orientation. SOAR is an interactive program designed to support students and their families as they transition into a new academic environment. SOAR reservations begin February 15 for Fall. (SOAR reservations begin November 2 for Spring and February 15 for Summer.)
For students entering in Fall 2021, SOAR will be hosted in a virtual format, where you will meet other new students and learn about campus resources to help you feel prepared to make a successful transition to college. Visit the SOAR website for more information.
Next steps before orientation
Submit immunization requirements
Complete your immunization forms and submit medical history forms via the Student Health Services portal. Immunization records are required by law within 30 days of course registration, so it’s essential you do this to remain enrolled. The UNCG Immunizations office is open Monday – Friday 8 am until 5 pm. The office is located on the second floor of the Anna M. Gove Student Health Center. Find Immunization Forms on the Student Health Center website.
Foreign Language Placement Examination
In preparation for studying a language at UNCG, it is important to know which course is your best starting point for that process. If you plan to continue a language that you have ALREADY studied, you must take the appropriate online placement diagnostic before registering for classes.
If you have studied French, German, or Spanish in high school, please register for and complete the Additional Language Placement Diagnostic. The diagnostic is fully online, will take 15-30 minutes to complete, and is multiple choice (no listening or speaking involved). Information on the testing process for other languages can be found on this website.
Take your student ID photo
Submit your own photo for your SpartanCard using the SpartanCard Center website.
Complete tax forms
Students that have not filed their FAFSA are required to complete a W9S Tax Form.
final steps after orientation
Send final grades
After graduation, send your official final high school transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as your graduation posts to your record. We also will need AP or IB scores and dual enrollment or early college transcripts to award appropriate credits. Submit all official documents by July 15 for fall admission (the deadline for spring is two weeks prior to the start of the semester). Mail to UNCG Undergraduate Admissions, P.O. Box 26170, Greensboro, NC 27402-6170.
Submit proof of insurance
Approximately 2-3 days after registering for classes, go to the StudentBlue insurance portal and complete the enrollment process for the student insurance plan OR complete the waiver process to use your own health plan and have the student insurance premium removed from your account. If you don’t waive the student insurance, UNCG will assume you want it and you will be charged.
Pay your tuition
Students are billed electronically each semester for tuition, fees, room, and board (if applicable). Billing schedules and payment deadlines will be shared at SOAR and online. Please note that bills are sent to you (not your parents) at your UNCG email address, and are issued after you have registered for classes. Be sure to check your iSpartan (UNCG email) account often.
