Admitted Spartans Days FAQs

I’m an undecided student, which Admitted Spartans Day should I attend?

Students who are undecided on their major are able to attend any of the Admitted Spartans Days events that work for them. Attend more than one if you’re able!

My intended major is on a date I’m not available. Can I attend a different event?

Yes! All of our 175+ academic areas will be available on Saturday, March 26. This is a great opportunity for you to see all that we have to offer if you’re not available on another day.

What is the difference between Admitted Spartans Days and SOAR (orientation)?

Admitted Spartans Days is a program to give admitted students a jump-start on their first year at UNCG. The program is optional and provides an overview of the campus, encourages interaction with UNCG faculty and students, and allows students and families to address any outstanding questions and concerns. Though it is highly recommended that admitted students attend, it is not mandatory.

SOAR is the mandatory summer orientation program. It is a two-day program in which students register for classes, take placement exams, turn in essential paperwork (immunization forms, financial aid papers, etc.), and attend various sessions in preparation for their arrival at UNCG.

Do my family members have to attend Admitted Spartan Days with me?

Family members are invited to attend Admitted Spartan Days with their students – and we encourage families to take this journey together – but their attendance at the program is not required. Because of space limitations, we ask that students limit guests to two people.

Can I bring my siblings and friends?

While Admitted Spartan Days are designed for admitted students and their families, we encourage students to attend with others who support their educational goals. Because of space limitations, we ask that students limit guests to two people.

Where do I park for Admitted Spartans Days?

Guest parking is free in the Oakland Avenue Parking Deck. Look for signs and staff to guide you.

Can I stay overnight in a residence hall as part of my Admitted Spartans Days visit?

We do not provide overnight accommodations for Admitted Spartans Days. Check out our list of nearby hotels.

How can I learn more about on-campus housing?

The Office of Housing and Residence Life has great information – including detailed information about all the residence halls – online at

Now that you’re admitted, take the next step toward making UNCG your college destination. Check out the Admitted Student Checklists to finalize your enrollment steps.
