Sander S.Sander S.

Major: Social Work with a minor in American Sign Language

Graduation Year: 2019

Hometown: Chapel Hill, N.C.

My personal motto is: You can give up on me giving up!

My goals are: To get into the counseling graduate program and receive my LCSW so I can become a clinical social worker.

I selected UNCG because: This school has an incredible social work and counseling program!

My best UNCG moment: Singing Verdi's Requiem at the UNCG Auditorium with 225 music students in front of more than a thousand people!

My biggest surprise at UNCG: How easy it is to make new friends!

My favorite place on campus: The fountain outside the Music Building. It is such a nice and tranquil part of campus, and you will always find music students singing and playing guitar.

On the weekends: I go to the Kaplan Wellness Center, hang out with friends, and explore downtown Greensboro!

My favorite class: "American Sign Language I" with Detoine Williams. Languages were always difficult for me, but ASL has been incredible. This class has opened me up to a whole new culture. It is due to the professor that ASL became my minor!

I am involved in: The Chariots, a co-ed a cappella group

My favorite food on campus: Fried Chicken Wednesdays at the caf!

Favorite thing to do in Greensboro: Going down to Friendly Pets and playing with puppies!

If I could have a superpower, it would be: Replicating myself.

My one piece of advice for prospective students: Spend as little time in your room as you can for the first month! It will go such a long way toward finding your place here and making lifelong friends!
