Meet Our Spartan Guides

MirandaMiranda O.

Major: Biology (pre-medicine) with a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology

Anticipated graduation: 2020

Hometown: Greensboro, N.C.

Motto: If you can't find the sunshine, be the sunshine.

Goals: To do my best with everything I do, to encourage and motivate myself and others, to be a role model, and to help and serve others by pursuing a career in medicine.

Why I chose UNCG: UNCG has always felt like home. I grew up on this campus because both of my parents are UNCG alumni, and I have grown attached. UNCG offered so much, and when I went on my first official tour of UNCG, I knew it was where I belonged.

Best UNCG moment (so far): Playing hide-and-go-seek tag in the Quad with my RA and other residents on my hall.

Biggest UNCG surprise (so far): How many resources are offered to students — from the math lab to the writing center.

Favorite place on campus: The swings beside the statue of Minerva because it's a peaceful place to be outside and have time to act like a kid again.

On weekends: I love to hang out with my friends and take time to relax by the fountain in front of the cafeteria.

Favorite class: "Principles of Biology I" (BIO 111) because I had a great professor and I just have a strong interest in biology in general.

Student involvement: Residence life as a resident adviser, Greek life as a member of Alpha Delta Pi.

Favorite campus eats: Chick-fil-A in the Elliott University Center.

Favorite Greensboro activity: Going downtown. I love walking around, especially on a nice day, and looking at the tall buildings and hanging out at the parks.

If I could have a superpower, it would be: Time travel, so I could go back and study longer and more efficiently for any exams I might have.

My advice for future Spartans: Don't overlook the little things. Just because it's something you are used to doesn't mean it has nothing amazing to offer.
