Jasmine O.Jasmine O.

Major: Speech Pathology

Graduation Year: 2018

Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.

My personal motto is: To go somewhere you've never been, you must do something you've never done.

My goals are: To graduate from UNCG with full honors and work toward earning my master's degree and Ph.D. so that I can open my own private practice. I also hope to learn many languages (including ASL and Spanish) to that I can help a wider range of people.

I selected UNCG because: The authentic nature of my first tour, and the Speech Pathology Department is one of the top in the country. I also fell in love with the diversity of the students and the beauty of the campus.

My best UNCG moment: One weekend I met a foreign exchange student from Korea and we ended up spending the day together at the lake learning about each other's countries.

My biggest surprise at UNCG: There are so many things to do on the weekends that I never want to go home!

My favorite place on campus: I love the fountain behind the EUC and the Faculty Center.

On the weekends: I try new activities I've never done. (Rock climbing is not for me!)

My favorite class: American Sign Language. I love how interactive the course is, and my teacher is so lively and fun.

I am involved in: The Honors College, Hall Council, club tennis, Leadership Challenge, and the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association.

My favorite food on campus: Jamba Juice!

Favorite thing to do in Greensboro: Community service around the city is always exciting because it's a way to get off campus and meet the people of Greensboro.

If I could have a superpower, it would be: The ability to freeze time.

My best advice for prospective students is: Always be yourself and the opportunities that are meant for you are sure to come!
