Meet Our Spartan Guides

EmanuelEmanuel B.

Major: Biology (pre-medicine) with a minor in African American and African Diaspora Studies

Anticipated graduation: 2020

Hometown: Winston-Salem, N.C.

Motto: "The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." – Albert Einstein

Goals: I want to become a pediatrician and help not just kids in the U.S. but also those around the world whose families can't afford to take their kids to the doctor. Children are the future, and it's up to us to help guide them to the correct path.

Why I chose UNCG: I had a very influential teacher at my high school tell me about UNCG and ask me to consider it. I did, and took a tour and absolutely loved it. It's diverse, and I absolutely love that about UNCG!

Best UNCG moment (so far): Putting an event together in my hall, with the help of the hall council. We brought the whole hall together for a game night — a night to remember!

Biggest UNCG surprise (so far): Meeting amazing people who shared the same interests that I do and having them become more than my friends — having them become family.

Favorite place on campus: The library. It's the quietest place on campus, and being there makes me want to concentrate harder and work diligently.

On weekends: I enjoy going out with friends — going out to eat and even just playing board games together. I also like to go home and go out with my family.

Favorite class: "Introduction to Religious Studies" with Dr. Bennett Ramsey. He was very passionate about teaching us the beliefs and cultures of religions around the world, and he opened our eyes to the bigger world that's out there.

Student involvement: SALSA, a Latino organization meant to teach others about Latin American cultures around the world; Residence Hall Association.

Favorite campus eats: Chick-fil-A

Favorite Greensboro activity: Going to the Greensboro Historical Museum and just going downtown and walking around.

If I could have a superpower, it would be: Superior intellect; this way I would be wise enough to make the right decisions and share my wisdom with others.

My advice for future Spartans: My time at UNCG has been amazing, but only because I made it that way. The decisions you make will shape you and mold you into the human being you want to be. Have fun but work hard. Do what you have to do first so that you can do what you want to do after.
