Meet Our Spartan Guides

Andre' J.Andre' J.

Major: Political Science and African American and African Diaspora Studies

Graduation Year: 2018

Hometown: Winston-Salem, N.C.

My personal motto is: The point of life is not to live forever. The goal is to create something that will.

My goals are: To become a successful attorney, do the things that I love, and be someone who people look up to.

I selected UNCG because: As stereotypical as it may seem, I love everything about UNCG! The first time that I came on this campus, I knew that this is where I belong.

My best UNCG moment: The moment at Freshman Convocation when the reality that I was in college sank in. I felt so accomplished

My biggest surprise at UNCG: I thought that I was so unique in high school, and I came here to find that there are so many people just like me!

My favorite place on campus: The music building. This is not because of the building itself, but because of one particular item in it. There is a trumpet there that was previously owned by my favorite trumpet player, Miles Davis. People have told me that it's weird that I love it so much, but something about it is calming to me.

On the weekends: I either stay here on campus and hang out with friends or go back home to spend time with family and friends from high school.

My favorite class: Freshman seminar. It was called "Acting Change in America." We read American plays and talked about the social or political issues that the plays addressed. This class was perfect for me because I love plays and politics.

I am involved in: I am a freshman senator with SGA, a member of the NBS Gospel Choir, and attend Bible studies with Cru.

My favorite food on campus: Chick-fil-A

Favorite thing to do in Greensboro: To go laser tagging at Spare Time. It is so much fun for such a great price!

If I could have a superpower, it would be: To create things with my mind. A world where I can just think about pizza, money, cars, and other things that I want seems absolutely amazing!

My best advice for prospective students is: UNCG is whatever you want it to be. Take advantage of the great things that UNCG has to offer. Go out and do what makes you happy.
