Alyssa G.Alyssa G.

Major: Community and Therapeutic Recreation

Graduation Year: 2017

Hometown, State: Pittsboro, N.C.

My personal motto is: Be proud of yourself.

My goals are: To graduate on time! And then land a career working as a special events manager for a county's parks and recreation or working for a coliseum. I would like to move to another state within the next five years.

I selected UNCG because: I chose UNCG before I even saw or toured the campus. After going on my first tour I knew it was a good choice because campus felt like a small town, with everything close to each other. Coming from a small town, this was very reassuring and made me feel comfortable.

My best UNCG moment: Being a part of the RA flash mob at the top of the fountain.

My biggest surprise at UNCG: How diverse this community is compared with other UNC system schools.

My favorite place on campus: The hill on the other side of the soccer stadium. It is the best place for sledding when it snows, and it's so peaceful up there.

On the weekends: I am usually on campus taking advantage of the different activities/events or any of the athletic events.

My favorite class: Sociology 101. My professor was great, and the class itself opened my eyes to looking at society from a new perspective.

I am involved in: I am a senior resident adviser and a member of the Community and Therapeutic Recreation Club.

My favorite food on campus: Chick-fil-A.

Favorite thing to do in Greensboro: Go to Friendly Pets and get my puppy fix.

If I could have a superpower, it would be: To have infinite stretch in my limbs, so I could reach something across the room without having to get up.

My one piece of advice for prospective students is: Make sure you go to the school you truly love. Go where you feel most at home.
