Former students are those who have previously attended UNCG during a regular academic term (not including summer session) without completing a degree. Students who completed a degree at UNCG or another institution should visit our Second Degree page.
Effective beginning Spring 2017, re-admission to UNCG is required for the following categories of undergraduate, degree-seeking former students:
- Those suspended or dismissed for academic or disciplinary reasons
- Those who have not been enrolled for two consecutive terms (excluding summer)
Re-admission of former students is not automatic; students must meet prevailing admissions standards for eligibility to return to UNCG. If applicable, students must clear all holds from their record. Students in poor academic standing at time of departure from UNCG should refer to the sections below.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions must receive all application materials by dates posted. (Please visit Instructions and Deadlines for more information.) With the exception of students who left UNCG under academic dismissal, UNCG accepts former students for fall, spring, and summer semesters. UNCG operates under rolling admission for former students, so the earlier you apply, the better. You will be notified in writing of our decision.
- Check with the Cashier's Office about any financial and/or loan holds.
- Check with Student Affairs if you left under disciplinary suspension.
- Returning students will need to see an academic adviser before registering for classes.
What if I left UNCG under academic probation?

Students returning under academic probation may be required to participate in the academic probation course through the Students First Office upon their return to the university.
