All About Admission

Important conditions of admission

To ensure that your acceptance remains in effect, please note the following requirements. Failure to meet the conditions of your admission may result in the cancellation of your admission. If you have any questions about this information, please contact Undergraduate Admissions immediately.

Freshman conditions

  • Have your high school send an official copy of your final transcript to Undergraduate Admissions upon your graduation. This transcript is due July 15 for students enrolling in the fall semester, December 19 for spring semester.
  • Complete all requirements for high school graduation.
  • Successfully complete all of the UNCG high school course requirements.

Upon receipt of the final official high school transcript, Undergraduate Admissions will review grades and courses completed to verify your eligibility for admission. We expect you to maintain or improve your grades during the remainder of your senior year. You must also provide an official college transcript if you have completed any college work prior to enrolling at UNCG.

Conditions for Transfer, 2Plus, Former, or Second-degree students

  • Have an official college transcript, showing all college/university credits earned, sent directly to Undergraduate Admissions immediately after the semester or quarter ends. (If you attend a summer session at another institution, you must have that institution's registrar forward an official copy of your transcript at the end of the summer session.) Deadline for admitted students to submit final transcripts is July 15 for fall semester, December 19 for spring semester. Summer session transcripts must be received by August 15.
  • Complete studies with an overall and transferable average of above a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale as calculated by UNCG on all course work attempted prior to enrolling at UNCG.
  • 2Plus students must finish their AAS degrees prior to enrolling.

Upon receipt of final official transcripts, Undergraduate Admissions will review these records to verify your eligibility for admission.

Additional requirements for admission

Admission to the university does not guarantee selection into any area of study. Some professional schools and majors have special additional admission requirements.

Credit by exam

Credit will be awarded for satisfactory scores on most College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams upon receipt and approval of your official scores. To request your AP scores, contact the College Board at (609) 771-7300 or call toll-free at (888) 225-5427. To request IB scores, contact the International Baccalaureate at (212) 696-4464.

Register for summer classes

Learn more about UNCG's summer session, including dates, course offerings, and registration information, at summersession.uncg.edu.

If you wish to attend summer session at another institution, have your courses approved by Undergraduate Admissions. Prior approval guarantees that your credits will transfer. Should you not maintain a 2.0 or better average (on a 4.0 scale) on all work attempted, your admission to the university may be jeopardized.
