Spartan StartUp is a five-week summer bridge program where participants are able to get a head start on their UNC Greensboro degree. Throughout the five-week program, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Earn seven course credits
  • Receive individualized academic advising and support
  • Connect with peers and peer mentors
  • Become familiar with the UNCG campus and support services
  • Live on UNCG’s beautiful campus
  • Participate in various social activities
  • Acquire the tools necessary for college success

Spartan StartUp 2019 Program Details

The 2019 Spartan StartUp program will occur during Summer Session II and run from June 20 until July 26. A typical week during StartUp includes:

  • Attending two classes that meet three days per week
  • Participating in a mandatory 3-hour study hall Sunday-Thursday evenings
  • Engaging in programming about study skills and tools for academic success
  • Participating in social activities led by peer mentors

Who is spartan startup for?

Spartan StartUp is looking for students who:

  • Are motivated to learn and get a head start on their college requirements
  • Have filed a 2018-19 and 2019-20 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)


Spartan StartUp is by invitation only. After receiving an invitation, students who are interested in participating in Spartan StartUp should complete the short application below. Once that application has been submitted, the program staff will review it and contact the student via the email provided on the application regarding their admission to the Spartan StartUp Program.
