Admitted Students Checklist
Admitted students: Please see the checklist below for more information on the next steps to enroll at UNCG! Important deadlines and conditions are listed here.
A more interactive version of this checklist can be found in your SpartanLink account.
WHAT DO I DO? |
HOW DO I DO IT? |
|---|---|
| SAVE YOUR SPACE! You must accept our offer of admission in SpartanLink to hold your place in the class. This is very important! You must respond by May 1. If you are admitted after May 1, you must reply within four weeks of the date on your letter of admission. | Log in to SpartanLink to accept our offer of admission and see a customized enrollment checklist. |
| GET CONNECTED. Activate your UNCG computer accounts and check your email often. You can activate your accounts online once you receive your UNCG ID number, emailed to you by Admissions after you were admitted. | This online guide is a good place to start. |
| MONEY MATTERS - APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID. This is optional, but if you plan to apply, be sure to meet all deadlines. Apply for financial aid as early as possible after January 1 (your application is due by March 1 for priority consideration). | Get to know the Financial Aid Office! You may also visit our Costs & Financial Aid page for details. |
| EXPLORE YOUR HOUSING OPTIONS. If you are planning to live on campus, the sooner you sign up for housing, the better. Be sure to check out UNCG's many learning communities, too! Apply and send your pre-payment by the due date listed on the Housing Web site. | Visit our Living on Campus page and get familiar with the Housing & Residence Life site. |
| SELECT A LEARNING COMMUNITY. UNCG offers a variety of learning communities for students who live on and off campus. Although participation is optional, you are encouraged to consider joining a learning community that focuses on a topic of interest to you. | Explore the many options on the Learning Communities Web site. |
| SIGN UP FOR SOAR (SPARTAN ORIENTATION, ADVISING AND REGISTRATION PROGRAM). This mandatory orientation fills up quickly, so make your reservation early. You can make your reservation online starting in February. (SOAR is not required for students in online degree programs.) | Learn all about SOAR on our Orientation & Advising page. |
| TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH! (Paperwork, that is.) Be sure to complete the student medical form and health insurance verification on time. You should complete your medical form and health insurance verification prior to SOAR. | Our Student Health Services page is a great place to start. Also visit these pages for details: shs.uncg.edu/clinic/immunization shs.uncg.edu/about/insurance |
| MAKE YOUR WAY TO ARA. Transfer and adult students, remember to sign up for Advising & Registration by Appointment (ARA). You are strongly encouraged to complete ARA prior to SOAR (transfer and adult students only). | Learn about Advising & Registration by Appointment on our Orientation & Advising page. |
| COMPLETE YOUR COURSES AND SEND TRANSCRIPTS/TEST SCORES. Remember, we will be looking at your final grades! Be sure to have official final transcripts and any AP or IB scores sent to UNCG. Final transcripts are due July 15 for fall admission (December 20 for spring admission). | Read our All About Admission page and be sure to make good grades! Visit your guidance office for high school students (college registrar for transfer students) to have transcripts sent. |
| PAY YOUR BILL. Please note that bills are sent electronically – another reason to check your UNCG email often! UNCGenie is your new best friend. Bills are sent to you (not your parents!) and must be paid in order to confirm your registration in classes. | For details on paying your bill, visit our Costs & Financial Aid page. |
| SHOW YOUR SPARTAN SPIRIT! Once you've completed the steps above, you are officially a member of the Spartan family. We look forward to seeing you on campus! (We encourage you to visit the campus if you haven’t already done so. Go on a tour and start to learn your way around!) | The first year of college is an exciting and challenging time. We want you to have the best experience possible, so UNCG has designed a Web site full of tips and information about campus resources that can help you make the most of your first year. |
