Academics at UNCG
UNCG students benefit from all the opportunities that large universities afford, including more than 100 undergraduate areas of study and 87 graduate programs, while enjoying manageable class sizes (freshman English classes typically have no more than 22 students).
Many of UNCG’s 1,000 faculty members have gained national and international recognition for scholarship and teaching. They engage in significant research - often assisted by undergraduates - which keeps them on the cutting edge of knowledge in their fields.
Senior faculty members at UNCG teach courses at all levels, so that our undergraduates study with the same professors who are teaching our Ph.D. students. Faculty members are accessible to students outside class as advisors, mentors, and on an informal basis. It’s the right balance between teaching and research, and a 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio ensures that undergraduates get the individual attention that they need to be successful academically.
