What's unique about Business Administration at UNCG?

The Bryan School's mission is to offer education programs that prepare students to perform successfully as business professionals in a global economy. Majors benefit from the infusion of these critical issues throughout the curriculum.

Students take courses in which they explore "real world" business situations. Students have the opportunity to meet with area businesses to assist in finding solutions to identified problems. Many businesses have found international markets for their products as a result of student team efforts, while other businesses have implemented student-proposed recommendations.

Disciplinary Honors in Business Administration

Business Administration supports and encourages students to participate in an appropriate Honors Program administered by the Lloyd International Honors College. Students in the Disciplinary Honors program take or design enhanced courses in their major. The advanced understanding and skills that they gain provide Honors students with a competitive edge in applying to graduate schools. Those seeking employment will find that prospective employers view participation in Honors as a good proxy for workers who are capable, well-trained, eager to learn, and intellectually curious.

Student Opportunities

The Bryan School's Career Services office and UNCG's Career Services Center provide assistance in securing internships and part-time employment as well as full-time positions upon graduation.

The Department offers an experiential learning course with students securing internships or other positions in varied organizations such as Bank of America, Koury Convention Center, Merrill-Lynch, the Mexican Embassy, and Walt Disney World. Many students have continued employment at these sites after graduation.

Students can compete in a new program, Campus Entrepreneurs, which allows students who successfully complete the course and earn a license, to operate their business on campus. The program is being underwritten, in part, by a donation from The Bank of Oak Ridge.

The faculty of the Bryan School of Business and Economics and the Department of Business Administration believe that today's global business environment requires that future business leaders experience other countries and cultures. Available options include exchange programs at excellent universities in more than 25 countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom; special opportunities to satisfy the Bryan School language requirements by studying abroad; short-term, one-week programs in countries offered during the academic year; and short-term, three-week programs offered during the summer.
