How to pay for college is a common concern for students and families. There is a lot to consider, and establishing a plan depends a great deal on individual circumstance. With this in mind, UNCG is creating the "Paying for College" video series for students and families who want to learn more about the resources available to them as they consider the cost of college.

Video 1: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

In this video, you will learn:

  • What the FAFSA is
  • Why it is important
  • How and when to file it
  • And what to expect after you have submitted it

Video 2: Scholarships & Grants

In this video, you will learn:

  • The difference between a scholarship and a grant
  • The importance of the FAFSA when seeking scholarships and grants
  • And where to find more information about available scholarships and grants

Important dates and numbers

  • FAFSA applications for the upcoming academic year are accepted beginning January 1.
  • March 1 is UNCG's priority filing date for FAFSA submission.
  • UNCG's federal school code is 002976. You must enter this code on the FAFSA to have your information sent to UNCG.
